How did Castlet avoid downtime when retrofitting an electrochlorination system for an oil rig?
THE PROBLEM
The offshore oil rig was undergoing a major refit and the requirement was to replace the existing Electrochlorination system. As the project was a retrofit there was a limitation on the size and weight of the equipment to enable it to fit into the existing space.
We worked hard so that the customer had minimal downtime and could easily update their equipment.

Solution
Castlet designed a bespoke unit rated at 60V / 1415A DC to closely match the footprint and connection points of the original package, both for the water and electrical connections. This bespoke design ensured minimal changes were required by the end customer to enable the new equipment to directly replace the original package. As part of the upgrade, new technology was incorporated into the design which resulted in a reduced downtime compared to the original installation.
